Treatment: Scaling & Root Planing
Periodontal disease needs to be treated as soon as possible once it is discovered! At Creve Coeur Family Dental, we can treat your gum disease through the use of scaling and root planing with our team of professional dentists. This is a deep cleaning of the pockets that have formed between your gums and your teeth. The scaling process involves the removal of plaque and calculus from the deep pockets. In the root planning process, we smooth out the roots (or “plane” them) so your gums are able to heal. This dental treatment, which requires several visits, is performed with the use of a local anesthetic. After your scaling and root planning treatment, you should have your teeth cleaned every 3 months. When it’s time for treatment by a dental professional, give us a call and schedule an appointment.
